| We desire to be a congregation who cares for
one another in time of joy and sorrow. We seek to promote wholeness
of the mind, body, and spirit so we can be Christ's hands and heart in
this world. The Caring Ministry of this church includes:
The
Prayer Chain – Using a systematic phone plan,
this group of people prays at request and confidentially for any need or
concern. Contact Dottie King 868-8745 or Helen Burk 254/793-3585 to put
a request on the chain or to join this prayer group.
Wholeness
Service – This service is held the second
Sunday evening of each month. It features Taize music and a time for anointing
with oil and prayer with a focus on healing. Contact George Biggs 863-2837
The
Service Committee of the Diaconate – Provides
bereavement meals and administers the telephone tree. Also, has responsibility
of the Care Team and its training. Contact Carol Kussmaul 388-7803.
Care
Team – This group provides purposeful Christian
visits at least once a month to members who are homebound, nursing homebound,
or are experiencing an on-going difficulty that may make them feel "isolated"
from their church family. Training is provided twice each year.
Contact Carol Kussmaul 388-7803.
Stephen Ministry – We are a Stephen Series
church. Stephen Ministry equips lay persons to provide distinctively
Christian one-to-one care to those who are experiencing all kinds of life
needs and circumstances. Stephen Ministers
Are committed Christian people who express God's
care through their lives to others
Are commissioned as Stephen Ministers after completing
their initial training
Visit another person regularly and dependably
and offer Christian support and care
Are committed to preserving the confidential nature
of the caring relationship
Receive continuing education and skill building
throughout their years of service
You can support our Stephen Ministry by praying
for our Stephen Leaders and Ministers as they provide Christian care to others, telling
Stephen Leaders about those who might benefit from the care of a Stephen
Minister, and receiving Stephen Ministry when you are in need of supportive
Christian care. Currently we have 19 commissioned Stephen Ministers.
General Info: Penny Leone. If you would like a Stephen Minister
to talk with or you know of someone who could benefit from having a Christian
friend come along side to provide careful listening, call Jenny Carswell 864-3559 or the church office. For more information about Stephen's Ministry, visit their website
