The Chancel Choir is made up of people who love to sing and serve God through music. Our membership ranges from singers who have been with us for a few months to those who have been faithful for over twenty years. Anthems are chosen from the rich heritage of masterpieces from the past through the contemporary music of today. The Chancel Choir presents a Christmas Cantata during Advent. Childcare is available.
The Sanctuary Choir is a group that sings at the 8:30 a.m. service. Membership is open to all who love to sing and serve God through music. Anthems will be selected from the rich heritage of the past up through today’s music. Childcare is available. If the early service is best for you, please come and join this new choir.
The two youth choirs lead in worship from September through April on a regular basis. These enthusiastic singers study a variety of sacred music of today and the past. Hand chime instruction is also included for the older choir. In addition to vocal techniques and musicianship, choir members study liturgy and learn worship skills that help make the worship service more meaningful to them, thus enable them to better serve as leaders during the service. The presentation of a musical on Youth Sunday is a highlight of the year.
Handbell ringing is especially gratifying and easily accessible to those who have had some music reading experience. First Presbyterian Church has a beautiful four-octave set of as well as a four-octave set of hand chimes.
These singers and instrumentalists specialize in contemporary sacred music. On scheduled Sundays, they sing today’s songs and lead the congregation in singing the Songs of Adoration.
The instrumental group is made up of the many talented band and orchestral students and adults in our congregation. On scheduled Sundays they play special music as an instrumental ensemble and also in combination with other choirs.
