Austin Jazz Society presents
“Georgetown Sunday Afternoon Concert”

Featuring the Red Young Trio

Red Young, Piano
Tom Brechtlein, Drums
Ed Friedland, Bass

Don Michael “Red” Young grew up in Fort Worth, Texas. He began playing piano at age three and did his first classical concert at age eight. His musical career includes more big names than can be listed here, but among them are Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Sonny and Cher, Waylon Jennings and Linda Ronstadt with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra. His group, Red and the Red Hots, performed more than 400 concerts, including one with the Fort Worth Symphony. Red displays mastery on the Hammond Organ as well as the concert piano. His organ performance in Georgetown on February 12th of this year at the First Presbyterian Church, and the piano concert scheduled for May 14, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. will demonstrate that mastery.

Those who attended the February concert saw Red perform with Brannen Temple and Mike Malone, on drums and saxophone, respectively. The May 14 concert will have Red on piano accompanied by Tom Brechtlein – drums and Ed Freidland – bass.
