Children's Ministry

Children are an important ministry in our church. There are opportunities on Sundays, throughout the week, and during the summer months for the children of our congregation and community to come together and learn more about God and His love for us.

First Presbyterian Church is committed to ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all children and youth. As such, our volunteers are required to complete the Ministry Safe training, which helps us foster a nurturing and protective community for everyone involved in our church activities.

Sunday School

Offered on Sunday mornings, during the school year, for all ages from 9:40 am – 10:40 am. Classes focus on connecting with God, the Bible, Jesus Christ and each other. Please see our Sunday School page for more information on specific classes and curriculum.

Wednesdays from 5:00 pm – 7:15 pm during the school year for Kindergarten – 6th grade.

The LOGOS program is a mid-week intergenerational ministry for children and families. Based on Acts 2:42 “The believers dedicated themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers” .

LOGOS builds intergenerational relationships between young people and caring, Christian adults of all ages through a four-part weekly format:

  • Bible Study: A time for each grade, or a combination of grades, to study the Bible as the model for Christ-centered living.
  • Worship Arts: Choir, drama, bells, or other arts are rehearsed at LOGOS and then presented regularly in corporate worship.
  • Family Time: The shared meal is a time to gather regular “table families” of various ages who eat together each week for the entire program year. Kitchen teams prepare dinners that are served family-style, with table settings and serving dishes—practicing the art of serving one another.
  • Recreation: All have great fun in a cooperative atmosphere, often drawing on the hobbies and interests of adults in the congregation willing to share their passions on a one-time basis or longer.

Please contact our Education Director Stephanie Mettler for more information.

Sonshine Kids

Sonshine Kids is a program for nursery through pre-k kids that meets concurrently with the LOGOS program. Sonshine Kids meet in our childcare rooms and experience a shared meal, a Bible lesson, and lots of free play time!
