Corner of Change: Tania Easton

Tania shares about moving to Georgetown in 2019, unpacks her growing call to address mental health challenges in our schools and reflects on running for the GISD school board. Tania also provides incredibly timely, practical advice to parents who are navigating the ever-changing world of technology and social media with their children. Finally, Tania shares some of the ways she has been facilitating the community around Georgetown and some of what she has learned while doing so.

____________

Tania has been married for 14 years to her husband, Matthew. They are a blended family with three amazing children, Isaiah (23), Amaya (22), a Texas State Grad (Go Bobcats!), and Isabella (13), an East View High freshman. They moved to Georgetown in June of 2019 and quickly became engaged in community organizations.

Her faith is the cornerstone of her life, and a servant's heart is one of her greatest values. Since making Georgetown her home, she has made a positive impact in the local schools through her PTA leadership positions and serving as PTA President for 2.5 years. Tania has made numerous contributions that have directly impacted students and GISD staff, such as the Wellness Rooms for Staff and Students at Tippit Middle School. Her record of positive impact is documented and can be seen and felt by both teachers and students–it speaks for itself. Tania is a compassionate person who believes in the fundamental goodness and potential in people.

As a child advocate, she understands that transparent communication is the best way to resolve conflict. The combination of challenging conversations and encouragement can mobilize people to do the work that creates change. She has seen it happen and wants to contribute to making the Georgetown community the absolute best it can be.
