SURVEYORS (via Zoom) | Sundays| 9:30AM
Oct. 18-Nov. 8
“Jesus and the Paradigm Shift”, led by Phil Smith. Often we read scripture with a 21st century view. As a result, we miss Jesus challenging his listeners to go beyond their narrow views. Bring your Bible and join as we consider
– Jesus and the New Covenant

“Surprised by Hope: Rethinking Heaven, the Resurrection, and the Mission of the Church”
Led by Gary Nelon, this class will use a six-part video series by N. T. Wright. What is heaven really like? Is our duty to help non-Christians get there? The author explores hope, resurrection, heaven, the second coming, salvation and the church, revealing that what we believe about the future has a direct impact on how we live in the present. PCUSA Study: “Principles Taught by Fred Rogers”
Some of these principles are neighboring, peace and love. Homebuilders is a discussion-oriented class for adults that covers topics in Christian living, church history and scripture. CROSSROADS (via Zoom) | Sundays| 9:30AM

As election season kicks into full swing, the Crossroads class continues its mission of squaring headlines with scripture to determine God’s will and instructions for our daily lives. Our topics frequently delve into the world of politics, newsmakers and scripture’s instruction to build community rather than drive a wedge between us. Join us during the Sunday School hour—even if you’re in your PJs! It’s 2020 after all! True to our name, the class is open to anyone who may be at a crossroads, seeking direction or understanding.

MEN’S LUNCH BIBLE STUDY (via Zoom) | Wednesdays| 12 PM
Sturdy Wanamaker will be leading as the Men’s group begins discussing the book of John this month. There is ample time and space for discussion and questions concerning this writing by John, whom many consider to have been Jesus’ closest friend. Plans are to continue gathering on Zoom until the group is able to meet safely again at church. Contact Ron Place for the Zoom link.

LADIES LUNCH BIBLE STUDY (via Zoom) | Wednesdays| 12 PM
Beginning November 11
Incarnation: Rediscovering the Significance of Christmas
Author Adam Hamilton examines the names of Christ used by the gospel writers, exploring the historical and personal significance of his birth. Join us in this Advent as we reclaim the Christ Child who brings us together, heals our hearts and calls us to bring light into the darkness. Now more than ever, in the face of uncertainty and conflict, we invite you to reflect upon the significance of the Christ-child for our lives and world today!

CHILDREN’S PROGRAMMING
Weekly pre-recorded offerings called FPC Kids Connection! which will be available for all ages beginning Sept. 20. Also, we will be offering Zoom gathering opportunities every other Wednesday evening for face-to-face time with teachers and friends. Crossroads

Navigating current events through scripture

From Nobel Prize winners and government surveillance to rock and roll, no week is ever the same! The Crossroads class uses stories from the day’s headlines to make God’s work in our lives more apparent. (Room 107)

Adult Elective

Short series, lectures and discussion

Classes provide opportunities for short-term, in-depth lecture studies of a particular topic led by a variety of persons including church staff, other adult teachers within our congregation and the community, as well as Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary professors (Room 113)

Home Builders

Discussion oriented class for adults

This  forum  covers topics in Christian living, scripture and church history. Formed to meet the needs of adults in the family-building stage of life, the class is open to all. (Room 111/112)

Surveyors

Discussion oriented adult class

A discussion oriented class that explores God’s Word in the scriptures and how we can best apply those truths in today’s world. (Room 207)

Children & Teens

Youth classes for 7th – 8th graders and 9th – 12th graders which follow a set curriculum, discussing current issues and topics as well as how we as Christians fit into an imperfect world.

Children ages 5 years through 6th grade explore the Bible through stories, crafts and role-playing activities.

Toddlers ages 2 – 4 years old are introduced to the love of Jesus through age appropriate activities while being nurtured in a fun, caring environment. For those who find it hard to sit for a full hour, childcare is offered in our preschool room during both worship services.

Infants from newborns to 23 months are lovingly cared for each week by our childcare staff. Pagers are available to parents in case a little one gets upset while you are away and speakers can be found in the parlor and lobby area for parents who need to stay with their child but still wish to hear the worship service.
