When the early church first met, their gatherings were small and took place within homes. When FPC was founded in 1854, the small congregation met in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sansom. As we did with Porch Pals in 2020 and 2021, we are going back to those house church roots!
Beginning the week of Sunday, March 6, you are invited to join a Lenten Small Group. These are groups of 6 to 10 people who will meet together for five consecutive weeks for fellowship, reflection, and prayer.
What will we do during these gatherings?
Each week the church office will email those involved in Lenten Small Groups with questions to help them reflect on the most recent Sunday scriptures, sermon, and service of worship. During this particular Lent, the sermon series will be “Walking with Jesus,” and we will be looking at Scriptures from the Gospel of Luke.
Small Groups will also have space to catch up, share stories, and pray together. Inevitably, each group will take on its own rhythm and identity even as all groups will be reflecting on the same material.
Who will be in my group?
That depends! You can sign up for your group at the link above. You will likely want to look at the various locations and times being offered to see what is going to work best for you. You may wish to choose the home of someone that you know, but you may also wish to choose a place you do not know! Hopefully one of the gifts of this time is that it allows us to meet some folks we do not know very well.
Can families with young children be involved?
Absolutely – we want our families with children to attend! The Seaman family has offered to host families who would like to attend and childcare will be provided at their house.
