“Mind Matters at Home”
Speaker: Toniya Parker | Program Coordinator for NAMI Central Texas

Monday, March 7
7:00 PM
Room 101 & via Zoom

NAMI, the National Alliance on mental illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.

Toniya Parker

NAMI at the national level presented a virtual program on this topic in January with five speakers from Austin, and Toniya will share some of that information. She will address how COVID has changed many people’s lifestyles. She will also talk about how we can become more aware of those suffering from depression and anxiety because of COVID restrictions, isolation and fear of becoming ill with the virus.

One in five U.S. adults and one in sixU.S. youth (ages 6-17) experience a mental illness each year, and according to the CDC, these numbers have increased as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

NAMI Central Texas was founded in1984, and it is changing the way communities in Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop, Burnet and Caldwell counties address mental health.

For those joining online, the zoom link will be sent in the Friday email or you may contact to obtain it as well.
