Su Casa de Esperanza Mission

One of our congregation’s missions is Su Casa de Esperanza, an effort started by the Presbyterian Children’s Home and Service Agency in the Rio Grande Valley, and now a non-profit affiliated with Mission Presbytery.  The work of Su Casa is concentrated in three areas: prenatal instruction for new mothers, infant stimulation and growth, and education for young mothers and toddlers to undertake together.  There is no charge to those who participate.  In response to our church’s request to identify special needs during the pandemic, Belinda Simons, the Director, identified three:

  • baby items for newborns (diapers, etc.);
  • equipment to enable video instruction and home instructional materials for those who are confined at home during this pandemic
  • help with the purchase of food.  In April Su Casa was given a grant for food, clothing, and other basic necessities.  With that money, Belinda bought HEB gift cards for 75 families who had little or no food.

If you are willing and able to support this ministry, you may do so by sending a check to First Presbyterian Church, Georgetown, and marking it for Su Casa de Esperanza (Your House of Hope!).
